Continuous Flow Aerated Windrow

This new technology takes the best of turned windrow, aerated windrow and agitated bed composting technologies into one efficient composting technology capable of processing large volumes up to 1 million tonnes per year with lower capital and operating costs than most other technologies.

This system uses 26 ft wide by 10 ft high aerated windrows, which can be processed under inexpensive corrosion resistant 30 ft wide cover structures. The remotely controlled windrow turner begins at one end of the windrow, moving the product 35 ft along the windrow. The organic waste for composting enters one end of the windrow, and leaves the other end of the windrow as compost. The turner adjusts for the volume loss during composting, maintaining the full windrow size along the length of the windrow..

This technology makes the best use of turned and aerated technology, producing the highest quality compost in the shortest time period. The continuous flow design reduces operations costs, while the use of inexpensive covers reduces capital costs. This technology is designed for large MSW and foodwaste/greenwaste composting projects.

We are also developing another version of this technology that processes 20 ft wide by 8 ft high windrows with a lower capacity turner for smaller projects.
